How manufacturers find B2B buyers at home: dealers, wholesalers and corporate buyers
Short answer
To find B2B buyers in your home market, first choose the buyer: a dealer, a wholesaler or a corporate buyer that uses your product in its own business. Dealers and wholesalers are found mostly at trade fairs and on marketplaces, corporate buyers in industrial zone and top-manufacturer lists. First contact goes by email and phone, and the deal usually closes with a visit. Email rules depend on the recipient's country.
A manufacturer looking for new customers in its home market usually has three things: a few long-standing dealers, the odd phone call and a trade fair once a year. All of them can work. The problem is going to all of them with the same message before deciding who the buyer actually is.
This article covers domestic channels: trade fairs, association and industrial zone lists, B2B marketplaces, field sales and email. We use Turkey as the worked example, since its public sources are well documented, but the same channels exist in most countries. For buyers abroad we have a separate guide: finding export buyers. Sources are as of 7 November 2026.
Define the buyer first: dealer, wholesaler or corporate buyer
A "B2B customer" is not one kind of company. Whoever buys your product falls into one of three types, and each wants something different:
| Buyer | What they want | Where to find them | Ask in the first call |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dealer | Territory, margin, stock and marketing support | Trade fairs, marketplace shops, a dealer form on your site | Which region, which brands they sell |
| Wholesaler | Price, minimum order, payment terms, lead time | Fairs, B2B marketplaces, trade districts | Who they supply, what payment terms |
| Corporate buyer | Consistent quality, certificates, delivery schedule | Lists of large manufacturers, industrial zones, associations | Who decides on purchasing, yearly volume |
A corporate buyer here means a firm that uses your product in its own business: a food producer buying packaging, a machinery firm buying parts, a hotel buying furniture. One message saying "contact us for dealership and wholesale" is weak for all three. Pick one first.
Trade fairs: go as a visitor first
In Turkey, the official calendar of fairs is kept by TOBB, the union of chambers. On 7 November 2026 the TOBB fair calendar listed 435 fairs for 2026. It can be filtered by city and organiser, shows each fair's topic, type, venue and organiser, and can be downloaded as Excel. Most countries have a similar calendar run by a chamber or fair association.
In the first year, consider visiting instead of booking a stand. You see which stands buyers stop at, how competitors quote and which dealers turn up. The stand decision can wait a year.
Preparation makes the fair pay off:
- Pick the exhibitors that fit you and ask for a short meeting two weeks before the fair.
- Bring a price list, a catalogue and samples if needed.
- Note what you discussed on the back of each card.
- Within the first week after the fair, send every contact a short email that recalls what you talked about.
If the cards stay in a box, the money is wasted. Most firms lose at the follow-up, not at the fair.
Industrial zones, manufacturer lists and associations
If you are looking for corporate buyers, a good list is worth more than a fair calendar. In Turkey there are three good starting points:
- Industrial zone list. The list of organised industrial zones kept by OSBÜK, their umbrella body, had 420 entries on 7 November 2026. It filters by province and shows each zone's type and status, so you can see where your target sector is concentrated. Some zones publish a company directory on their own site. For the rest, ask the zone's management.
- ISO 500 and Second 500. The Istanbul Chamber of Industry publishes its list of Turkey's 500 largest industrial companies and the Second 500 openly. The latest list is for 2025 and shows each firm's chamber. For large corporate buyers, these 1,000 firms are a good start.
- Industry associations and chambers. Association meetings, sector days and chamber committees are the cheapest way to be in the same room as buyers. Membership often opens more doors than a list.
Once the list is built, clean it: remove off-sector firms and generic info@ addresses, and find who decides on purchasing. A good list is 200 right firms, not 5,000 random addresses.
B2B marketplaces and your own website
B2B marketplaces let buyers find you. An enquiry is usually a price question, and the same enquiry often goes to several manufacturers. The one who answers the same day with everything wins: unit price, minimum order, lead time and payment terms. Before joining, read the commission, membership fee and contract.
When a dealer or purchasing manager hears about you, your website is the first place they look. A manufacturer's site should have:
- A dealer application form and the regions where you want dealers
- A downloadable catalogue and a wholesale price request form
- Quality certificates and production capacity
- A named contact reachable by phone, email and WhatsApp
Catalogue images sell too. For catalogue images from a single photo see this article, and for the cost of the site see website cost 2026.
Field sales: turning a list into visits
A large share of domestic B2B sales still closes face to face. What makes a visit productive is the work before it:
- Plan routes by area. Put firms in the same industrial zone on the same day.
- Do not knock unannounced. Book the visit by phone or email.
- Carry samples, the price list and your dealer terms.
- After each visit, note who it was, what they asked for and when to follow up.
- For dealers, put territory, targets, payment terms and returns in a written contract.
Email and phone: the rules
Email fills the gap between fairs and visits. Rules depend on the recipient's country. In Turkey, according to the Ministry of Trade page on commercial electronic messages, prior consent is not required for commercial messages sent to merchants and tradespeople. Once a recipient uses the right to refuse, you may not message them again without consent. Check your obligations under the message management system (İYS) before sending. The EU rules and deliverability are covered in B2B cold email.
The first message to a prospective dealer should be short and based on one real fact about them. You fill in the part in brackets for each recipient:
Subject: [Product group] dealership in [city]
Hello Mark,
I saw that [your shop carries bathroom cabinets from two different brands].
We make [product group] in [city] and have no dealer in [your region] yet. We offer our dealers [one concrete term, for example payment terms on the first order].
Shall I send the catalogue and the dealer price list?
Anna
If you would rather not hear from us, just reply "no" and we will not write again.
Doing this every month for hundreds of firms takes time. Bulsu Labs Lead Generation runs it as a monthly package: verified decision makers, a three-step sequence and replies routed to you.
A simple plan for the first 90 days
| Period | Work | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1 and 2 | Pick one buyer type, build a list of 200 firms from zone, ISO 500 and fair lists | Firms with a named decision maker |
| Weeks 3 to 6 | First contact by email and phone, visit one trade fair | Firms that accept a meeting |
| Weeks 7 to 12 | Field visits, samples, quotes | Quotes sent and first orders |
At the end of 90 days, look at which channel brought meetings and split the next quarter accordingly. Where AI helps in this process is collected in AI for small businesses.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find B2B customers?
First pick the buyer type: dealer, wholesaler or corporate buyer. Then build a list of around 200 right firms from the channel that fits that type, make first contact by email and phone, and visit the ones that show interest. One message to everyone is the weakest approach.
How does a manufacturer find dealers?
Dealers' stands and visits at trade fairs, marketplace shops selling similar products and a dealer application form on your own site are the most productive sources. Tell a prospective dealer clearly about territory, margin and first-order terms.
Where can I find a list of trade fairs?
Most countries have a calendar run by a chamber or fair association. In Turkey, the TOBB fair calendar listed 435 fairs for 2026 on 7 November 2026, with filters by city and organiser and an Excel download.
Where can I find lists of large manufacturers?
In Turkey, the Istanbul Chamber of Industry publishes the ISO 500 and Second 500 lists openly, the latest for 2025. OSBÜK's industrial zone list shows where a sector is concentrated.
Is it legal to send B2B email without consent?
It depends on the recipient's country. In Turkey, the Ministry of Trade says prior consent is not required for commercial messages to merchants and tradespeople, but once they refuse you may not write again without consent. In the EU, national rules apply on top of the GDPR. This is not legal advice.
How do I reach wholesalers?
At trade fairs, on B2B marketplaces and in trade districts. A wholesaler wants price, minimum order, lead time and payment terms in the first message. A manufacturer with these four ready can answer the same day and gets ahead.
